Fourth of July and Other Stuff Goin’ On

808f4952d4450e9c So, it being the Fourth of July weekend, let me just start by saying Happy Fourth of July to everyone and ask that sometime this weekend that you stop and give thanks to the troops that are deployed and can not be home for the BBQs with their families. Also for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. From the War of Independence on down the latest in Iraq and Afghanistan, I say thank you.

So much going on lately it is hard to know where to start really. Doug and The Sister turned in their dad’s car yesterday (it was a lease) and Doug bought a car for us as well. Not anything new, but it will get us from point A to point B for now. I am already starting to look at apartments so we can get a list started and visit the places that we like. We still have a couple of months, but I am not going to try and pack and look for a place to live at the same time.

As it turns out, Doug’s dad had a policy on Doug and The Sister in case something happened. As the policy is written it could not be paid out because it was to his dad, I think. So yesterday they went to talk to those people. I am not sure what happened there, but hopefully something good.

This is my week off of school, that started Wednesday. I got a 96% in my science class over all, which made me happy. I am starting back full time now, which means I will have two classes at once now instead of one.

We are making progress on cleaning the house up. The living room is almost done. I have to figure out how to clean the wood floors though. I am not sure how they are finished so it makes it hard because I need more than water as there is gross stuff on the floor and they are really dirty!

We are donating his clothes to Purple Heart. There is some house hold things that we are donating to the Salvation Army as well. We thought about having a yard sale, but honestly neither of us wants to deal with it. His dad’s room is almost finished, all that is left is getting rid of his bed, the night stand, and what ever is left in the closet.

I am making lists of what we still need after we move and it will most likely be a short one. There is so much stuff here already that we are taking. Pots and pans that are good. A lot of the kitchen appliances. The room that we were in before we moved into the basement is clean, but after we finish his dad’s old room, we need to move the boxes of my books into that room so we can move back upstairs and start moving the stuff that will go in the living room. There is a bunch of furniture that we need to get rid of, there are a couple of people coming by to look at it and see if they want any.

So much going on! Have a safe weekend!

  1. I just started reading your blog and had a few questions. I hope I don't come off offensive with them, I guess I'm just curious. I have tried to find these answers myself by reading past posts of yours, but they don't have much context and seem to just repeat the previous day.
Who exactly is Doug? some of the ways you speak of him he seems like a brother, other times not.
What is it you do for work? Are you just a student?
Do you have some kind of illness that causes you to sleep so much? you always say you need more sleep.
