  3. I am thankful for God, because without Him I could not do any of this!
  4. I am thankful for Doug, who has been my rock lately.
  5. I am thankful for school, because it keeps my mind occupied and not dwelling on things lately.

Wednesday Wishes

Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s edition of Wednesday Wishes. As always you can play along in the comments or in your own entry, if  you do your own entry please drop your link here so I can read yours. Okay, here we go!

  1. I sometimes wish that I was more of a ‘normal’ person. Although since I have been studying psychology, normal is a relative term. Maybe mainstream is a better term.
  2. I wish that I did not crave comfort food so much. My comfort food is pizza and peanut butter.
  3. I wish that my migraine will go away soon! There is a line of bad storms coming through so I am thinking that won’t happen until after.
  4. I wish that my cat did not have such sharp claws. It might be time to take her to get them cut. I can not do it.
  5. I wish that I could sleep more today. Maybe later though!

Tuesday is Here!

My life has been so different since the funeral. Today is the end of my week at school and I have procrastinated something horrible this week, so now I am stuck with a lot of work to get done in both my classes. Ugh. I need to really fight the urge to let things slide until tomorrow.

Good thing that I have no papers due this week though. I have not been sleeping well and that really takes a toll on me as well. Tonight is dinner at Trina’s which I am looking forward to. Maybe dinner on Friday with Becky at IHOP or someplace kinda cheap like that. I am not sure yet. It will be great to see her and Mark again. I also need to make sure that I take her book and bag to her! What ya wanna bet I forget one or both of those things?!?

The other day I cleaned out my 6 drawer cart I have here in the computer room and I never knew I had so much junk in that thing! I also cleaned off the book shelf near the computer as well and a lot of stuff went into the garbage there too.

I still have Avon stuff from when I sold Avon, both product and all the other crap that comes with it. I need to get rid of some of that stuff too. The weekends seem to fly by and I have no idea where they go to. ::sigh:: Well, this is about it for my blogging break…. Ciao!

Mondays Suck

I know I am being redundant. I know that we all know that Mondays suck. This weekend was okay. We did some stuff yesterday and went to visit a cousin for a little while as well. It was nice to get out of the house, although it was HOT!

I have had issues sleeping this past weekend. I am subject to occasional bouts of insomnia and this weekend was a doozy! So, of course I am starting Monday tired. I am going back to bed when Doug gets home later anyway, so maybe it won’t be that bad today.

As I have said, I got my book on Friday finally. It weighs about 5 pounds, so if I swing it pretty hard I am fairly certain I could possible kill someone with it. If not kill then seriously hurt, it is that heavy.

I got to talk to my friend Josh this weekend and he will be in Michigan sometime this week. I am not sure if I will get to see him or not right now, but it would be nice to. I have not seen him since last year. I think that this is it for now. Ciao!

Update on Said Book and Everything Else

The book got here yesterday finally! Although this thing is huge and I could use it to kill someone it is that heavy, I am happy to have it in my hot little hands now. I feel so much better. Now, I don’t have to get all stabby on someone and get mean. Yay!

I went to see Trina last night and heard about her camping adventures. The air mattress worked out well for her, which I am glad. So glad that we could help! She had a great time with her family and that was all that mattered.

Sleep has been elusive lately. So, I am tired again, but not feeling any worse than before, so that is good news. It is supposed to be icky here in Michigan this weekend, which is fine I had nothing planned anyway. LOL.

Maybe later I will go through my cookbooks and see what I have. Most of them I got from Sandy, which is cool. Maybe try and get them all together because right now they are everywhere! I updated my Amazon wish list. New books and some more shows I watch. I actually think that I have about 104 things on it now. Most of it books. Go figure. LOL. Gotta run and eat something. Ciao!

Friday Random Thoughts

Usually because by the time I get to Friday, I only have random thoughts left in my head from the week. I use this kind of an entry to actually get them out of my head. Sorry if it makes no sense to  you all.

An update on my book, I got an email yesterday as well as an voicemail from who I am going to assume ( yeah, I know what happens when I assume) was my academic counselor. Seeing as I have never heard from said academic counselor before, I actually do not know if she is mine or not. Anyway, the email said that it was Next Day Air shipped to me, so that means that I should have it today, finally! Talking to my enrollment guy about this situation for the last technically 4 weeks, but only 3 weeks of class he found out that they shipped said book to someone else who was not in my degree program. Wish I could have been there that day when she got my book. Cause I think he said she was in like medical office billing or something like that.

The voice mail that Doug listened to and told me about was the woman I think is my academic lady. She said it was next day air shipped and I should have it Saturday. Now, I am not a genius or anything but I know that if something is next day air shipped, and it ships on Thursday, it means that who ever (in this case me) will get the item on Friday, not Saturday. Seriously thinking about buying this lady a calendar for Christmas. She also had the nerve to tell me that the first three units of the book are online.

Okay, first of all, I am in the third week of class with no book. Which means, that after this week I have no more online book. Now, had she contacted me a week ago when she was supposed to she would know this and know the reason that we are all freaking out about this.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Kaplan. I really do. I understand that shit happens from time to time. I get that. I am thinking that this lady needs a bit more training though. Seriously. Luckily for me, I have the best enrollment guy on the planet and he really helps me with stuff. He has been so awesome!

I am feeling kind of better today. I think that all the extra sleep is doing me good. I was watching From Russia With Love last night. I fell asleep watching it and woke up at like 10:15pm because the cat jumped on me. Which as it turns out is a good thing in this case. I went to bed. Slept a little extra.

I think that we are going to see my sister from another mister, Trina tonight. I have missed her! Well, and I want to hear all about her outdoor adventures. LOL. I gotta run, I have a couple hours of TV to catch up on. ( Burn Notice and Royal Pains). Ciao!

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! I am sorry that I am late with the Thankful Thursday entry. Time got away from me this morning and I did not realize until I logged into Blogger that it was not done. So, having said that, as usual with this entry, you can play along in the comments or do your own entry. Please send me the link if you do your own entry so I can read it! Here we go!

  1. I am thankful that I am not much sicker than I actually am. While I am rather miserable, it would be and could be worse.
  2. I am thankful for my ability to read and write ( Thanking all those teachers out there!)
  3. I am thankful that I am ever changing and who I am today will not be who I am tomorrow.
  4. I am thankful for Doug.
  5. I am thankful that we have food to eat and that we are warm and dry. Make that cool and dry cause it is hot out there!

Wednesday Wishes

Hi all, welcome to another edition of Wednesday Wishes! As usual you are all invited to play along in the comment section or create a post of your own. If you do a post, please send me the link so that I can read and comment! Okay, so here we go!

  1. I wish that I was not still sick. Although I have to admit that I am not getting worse, so that is a good thing!
  2. I wish that I would get my stupid book already for school! Three weeks into the class already and I still do not have it.
  3. I wish that food tasted normal when I am sick.
  4. I wish that my friend Roberta less stress
  5. I wish that I could relax more.

Random Tuesday

I am rather hit or miss with my entries this week, mainly because I am still a hacking, sniffling mess and would rather sleep. I have been doing a fair amount of sleeping and sucking on vitamin C drops as well. The good news is that I am not getting worse and I attribute that to my asthma inhalers. Thank God for those! I am not sure how I managed to be sick the whole winter without them honestly.

Caught up with school work finally, I have a paper to write on research designs. Yeah sounds like a barrel of laughs, right?!? NOT! It won’t be too bad I don’t think because my teacher was nice enough to make a template for the paper for us, so basically I have to just put the information in it. Yay! I am all for easier.

Not going to the usual place for dinner tonight because my favorite waitress and sister is on vacation, lucky bitch. She is off camping with her family. We lent her our air mattress so that she would not have to sleep on the ground. See, I can be nice to people I actually like. Hehe.

Oh you know those kind of people who always bend over backwards to pat themselves on the back about something? Well, it seems that there are three of them in my research methods I class. Let me explain a bit… We were talking about research biases. These three Musketeers were bending over backwards to point out that because their families are so diverse that they could not possibly be biased. So, you all know me, I pointed out that EVERYONE has biases of some kind. Oh no! They are so open minded and accepting. Gah! Yeah, I have found that the people who talk about being accepting and open minded are the least of those traits. It was a long seminar tonight because of that trio. ::sigh::

Other than that, I am still standing for the most part upright. The book thing is still not settled for my other class. OMG, I am going to stab someone soon if I don’t get my book, we are headed into the third week of class and I have not heard anything about this text book except that it is back ordered. Seriously, I am so over this. Well, gotta run… Looking for some things online. Ciao!

Sunday

Today is Justin’s welcome home party that we were invited to months ago. I am looking forward to it, because most of my readers know that I am a HUGE supporter of the military here, he is back from another tour in Iraq, so truly something to celebrate!

I only wish that I felt better than I do, but I made a promise and I will keep that promise. I am going to be there. Hopefully not for a long time because I am still not feeling well. I have developed a nice hacking cough now. Ugh. I am using the asthma inhalers and they are helping but I do not want to be sick!

Ed ( my adopted soldier) and I have talked on Facebook finally! I was starting to worry about him. He is fine and well, which is good. I was speaking to his wife the other morning, she sent me a message thanking me for adopting him and telling me how much it means to him.

Trust me, it means more to me! I am glad that I could do this for him. He is a sweet guy. I am still working on a care package for him though. I do need to write another letter for him though and soon. I will put that on my to do list for next week.

School is okay. Being sick sucks with that too. Well, I need to actually go and finish a discussion question for a class. Ciao!

TV Recap

There are a number of new ‘summer’ shows out there and I decided that I would talk about those that I decided to watch this summer. So let’s begin!

1. Rizzoli & Isles: Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander play the two main characters. This is a cop/medical examiner show and for those of you who are huge NCIS fans, yes Sasha Alexander was Kate on NCIS. I loved the pilot episode of this series, but I need to watch a couple more before I can say if I loved it or not.

2. Memphis Beat: Jason Lee ( From My Name is Earl) is the lead in this cop show set in Memphis. I was kind of worried that I would not be able to separate Jason Lee from his other show. Although I have never seen Earl, I had heard of it and I have to say that I really like Memphis Beat  a lot. It has wonderful Southern flair.

3. Covert Affairs: Piper Perabo ( Yes from Coyote Ugly) plays a CIA trainee and is pulled from training early because of her language skills. Her sister is played by the woman who was on House( Bitch). It is a fun show and I enjoyed the pilot episode but I need to see more before I commit to this one as well.

As usual, Burn Notice, White Collar, Royal Pains, The Closer, and Leverage are all back for summer seasons. I am glad because on network TV they are all running repeats until the Fall season starts! Hope you enjoyed and will check some of these out yourself! Ciao!

2 In 1

As usual I will be doing Wednesday Wishes as well as updating you all on what I have been up to. So, on with the show! First the update… I am currently sick. Again. I am a gooey mess of runny nose and sneezing. I know you all most likely did not need to know that. School is going well for the first week and I am frustrated because I have not gotten my adolescent and child psychology book yet. It is on back order. The second week of school starts today. ::Sigh:: Hopefully I will know more about this stinking book soon.

After my first two seminars in my classes, I can honestly say that I like both of my teachers and both classes will be fun and interesting. This Sunday is a party with Doug’s Aunt and Uncle and various other family members. I am actually looking forward to seeing his Aunt and Uncle again. Hopefully I will be feeling better by then, if not I am still going because I made a promise to his Aunt that I would be there and I am not breaking that.

On to Wednesday Wishes…. As usual, you all can play along in the comments or in your own posts, just be sure to leave me the links so I can read!

  1. I wish that I was not sick. However, since it is a bit late for this particular wish, I will just go with it.
  2. I wish my book would get here already! I have no control over that either, so again I have to go with it.

It seems to be a short list today…Ciao!

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! Welcome to another edition of Thankful Thursday. As usual, if you want to play along, you can in the comments or in a post of your own. If  you do your own post, link me up here so I can visit! Okay on with the show!

  1. I am thankful that I am smart and I know when to shut my mouth.
  2. I am thankful that I can read
  3. I am thankful for my friends online and off
  4. I am thankful that for the most part I have a pretty good life
  5. I am even thankful for Doug

We did not go with Doug’s sister to lunch yesterday because she double booked. (Nice, huh?) Apparently she made plans with us and another friend at the same exact time. She chose her friend of course. Oh well, it worked out in the end I suppose, Doug got to sleep. Ciao!

Wednesday Wishes and Other Things

Hi everyone! I will start this with the normal Wednesday Wishes post and then finish it with the other stuff. As usual, if you would like to play along you can in the comments or in a post of your own. Just remember to come back and leave your link for me to follow.

  1. I wish that all my friends online and off are happy. I am working on that for myself and sometimes it seems so difficult, but in reality it is not. Happiness is the little moments that are perfect, like that perfect dish, the perfect kiss or hug, something that you love.
  2. I wish that I can keep my 4.0 in school. I know that I can work on it and it might happen, but I never know! It is a great feeling to have a 4.0 right now so I will enjoy that while I can!
  3. I wish that people would see my kids as I do. I know that no one likes everyone, but I think that if people could see my kids as I see them it would be great!
  4. I wish that John( my ex who has my kids) would understand that if I don’t email him right back it is not because I am avoiding him or ignoring him, because I am not.
  5. I wish that Doug and his sister could get along better. I know I am really reaching for this but I am tired of the constant fighting. I am staying out of all this because it is not my place, but the yelling has got to go!

Okay, on to the ‘other things’ of this entry. School starts back today and I am happy. I am grateful for the week I had off but I am ready to get back to work. I have missed it a lot.

So, as I mentioned as of right now, I have a 4.0 GPA in school. I love being able to say that! I am going to work my butt off to keep that but I am realistic. So, I am going to enjoy it as much as I can.

We are supposed to go to lunch with The Sister today and I have decided that I am going to enjoy the new experience. How many places carry meat around on swords and serve you from them? Not that many! I am determined to have fun and enjoy. I will let  you know how it goes. I have come to a conclusion, when Doug and his sister (The Sister) get together over food things go so well. If there is no food involved then things fall apart.

His sister enlisted the help of a cousin to help with the cleaning of the house. Which is good for us because the week days are hard to get any kind of cleaning in because of his work schedule and school for both of us. The only thing I am not liking is that they are sanding down the floors and resealing them. This will cause havoc with my asthma. Ugh. I have inhalers so I will just have to be careful. This weekend I have to go through the pots and pans.

A friend of the family came over last night and took a lot of furniture and other stuff, which made me happy because I would rather that she and her new husband use it than to give it away. I think that she is coming back for more stuff later.

I guess the idea is to retile the kitchen, vestibule area, and what was their dad’s room. In the computer room the carpet is coming out and the wood floors will be sanded with the rest of the floors in the house. We are waiting until they are totally finished with all of that until we move upstairs so that we are not in the way and all the floors get done. Well, I think that is it for now. Gotta go do some school stuff. Ciao!

Answering Reader’s Questions

Okay, so this is my first time actually doing a post like this. A reader has asked me some questions and instead of just answering in the comment section, I decided that since I have a few new readers over the last couple of months that I would actually answer these as a post.

Breazy said...

I just started reading your blog and had a few questions. I hope I don't come off offensive with them, I guess I'm just curious. I have tried to find these answers myself by reading past posts of yours, but they don't have much context and seem to just repeat the previous day.
Who exactly is Doug? some of the ways you speak of him he seems like a brother, other times not.
What is it you do for work? Are you just a student?
Do you have some kind of illness that causes you to sleep so much? you always say you need more sleep.

First of all, it is not offensive to me to ask questions about something you don’t understand, so let me see if I can help you out here.

1. Doug is my boyfriend who I live with. Sometimes when I am frustrated with him, I do notice that I write about him as if he is a brother. He is not my brother. I am adopted and have no idea who my birth parents are. Doug’s dad just died this year on Father’s day, so we have been cleaning up the house lately and sorting through his stuff. It is very emotionally draining, which is why I feel like I need more sleep.

Doug also works at night so my sleep patterns are not what most people would call normal I guess.

2. I am a full time college student, which takes a lot out of me mentally because these classes are not all that easy and sometimes stressful. I am working on my bachelor degree in psychology right now. My next two classes start tomorrow.

3. The sleep thing. I do have insomnia sometimes, which makes me very tired. Also the last couple weeks with dealing with Doug’s dad’s death has been very draining. My patterns of sleep are not really normal either. Most of my entries are done early in the morning like around 4amish which is when I am getting tired. Sometimes, I do write entries in the evenings, but we normally go to bed about 10pmish because he has to have a nap before he goes in at 2am. Sometimes earlier than that.

I hope that this has helped answer some questions and thank you for asking!! Ciao!

Plans

So yesterday the Sister never came over as she was supposed to. She made some excuse and that is fine with me. I know she does not want to help clean anything. She would rather leave us to deal with it all. Having said this, I hope that she realizes that if that happens, pretty much everything except for what we want to keep will be thrown away.

Doug and I are apartment hunting and have to seriously downsize all the crap that we will take with us. Of course the furniture that is ours is going, but all the rest will be gotten rid of. My clothes and his are of course going. We are donating his dad’s clothes that are good enough to be donated. We found a lot of new stuff still in the packaging. New shirts and such. We are going through the kitchen stuff and keeping what we want and getting rid of the rest.

We are going to this Brazilian steak house with her on Wednesday for lunch apparently. It is all you can eat meat ( all kinds, pork, steak, chicken, etc…) and then you get the sides. I have never been there but she goes a lot.

I just had dinner with her Saturday. I can not wait until school starts back and she has to work again. Well, this is it for now. Ciao!

Monday is Just Another Day

This week the Sister is supposed to be here to work on the house. Not sure how this will work out because Doug needs to sleep during the day.

Where I live here in Michigan, they are having the 4th of July stuff today. At first I was like WTF?! But I guess technically because the 4th was on a Sunday, most people have Monday off. So not such a crazy thing.

I am tired today. I am going to sleep well in a bit. Gotta run. Ciao!

4th of July

Boots&Tags(small).gif I know that I did a post yesterday about the 4th of July, but I would be remiss if I did not do one today too.

I would like to give a very special thanks to some people today. My grandfather (my dad’s dad) who fought in WWII(deceased), my grandfather ( my mom’s side) who fought in WWII and was at Pearl Harbor on that fateful day(deceased), to my dad who fought in Viet Nam(deceased), to my adopted soldier Ed who is in Afghanistan right this very minute ( stay safe!), to my friend Michael who has already served, to Doug’s cousin Justin who just came home from Iraq safe ( welcome home!), and to all those men and women who have fought from the War of Independence right on down to those serving today around the world. I almost forgot also a huge thank  you to Jeff, who was an adopted soldier who served in Afghanistan, Africa, and all over the world. He is stationed at home now!

To all the soldiers who are serving, thank you! It does not matter if they are American, British, German, or NATO, they are all risking their lives.

Fourth of July and Other Stuff Goin’ On

808f4952d4450e9c So, it being the Fourth of July weekend, let me just start by saying Happy Fourth of July to everyone and ask that sometime this weekend that you stop and give thanks to the troops that are deployed and can not be home for the BBQs with their families. Also for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. From the War of Independence on down the latest in Iraq and Afghanistan, I say thank you.

So much going on lately it is hard to know where to start really. Doug and The Sister turned in their dad’s car yesterday (it was a lease) and Doug bought a car for us as well. Not anything new, but it will get us from point A to point B for now. I am already starting to look at apartments so we can get a list started and visit the places that we like. We still have a couple of months, but I am not going to try and pack and look for a place to live at the same time.

As it turns out, Doug’s dad had a policy on Doug and The Sister in case something happened. As the policy is written it could not be paid out because it was to his dad, I think. So yesterday they went to talk to those people. I am not sure what happened there, but hopefully something good.

This is my week off of school, that started Wednesday. I got a 96% in my science class over all, which made me happy. I am starting back full time now, which means I will have two classes at once now instead of one.

We are making progress on cleaning the house up. The living room is almost done. I have to figure out how to clean the wood floors though. I am not sure how they are finished so it makes it hard because I need more than water as there is gross stuff on the floor and they are really dirty!

We are donating his clothes to Purple Heart. There is some house hold things that we are donating to the Salvation Army as well. We thought about having a yard sale, but honestly neither of us wants to deal with it. His dad’s room is almost finished, all that is left is getting rid of his bed, the night stand, and what ever is left in the closet.

I am making lists of what we still need after we move and it will most likely be a short one. There is so much stuff here already that we are taking. Pots and pans that are good. A lot of the kitchen appliances. The room that we were in before we moved into the basement is clean, but after we finish his dad’s old room, we need to move the boxes of my books into that room so we can move back upstairs and start moving the stuff that will go in the living room. There is a bunch of furniture that we need to get rid of, there are a couple of people coming by to look at it and see if they want any.

So much going on! Have a safe weekend!

Thankful Thursday (a day late)

Hi everyone! Normally I do this on Thursdays, but I actually forgot yesterday. Again, as usual, you are free to play along in comments or in your own post.

  1. I am thankful for a roof over my head. Considering that there is currently a fight going on, I am not sure how much longer that is going on.
  2. I am thankful for friends both online and off line. You all really helped me get through a hard time. Still are helping me.
  3. I am thankful for Doug’s dad. As long as he was here he was so generous to me.
  4. I am thankful for a couple of new friends. They have become important to me.
  5. I am thankful that I am healthy.
