Funny Stuff That Happened To Me…

Through all the pain and crap with my back, some really funny stuff happened to me this week. One of which is that while flipping through my channel guide, I saw a movie that I wanted to watch and turned the channel on and after a few minutes could not understand why I was not understanding the movie. Well, it was because it was on the Spanish channel and I don’t speak Spanish.

Soooo, that explains why I was watching a movie I could not understand at all. And honestly, was watching it for like 20 minutes or so. Yeah. I know.

Another funny thing that happened was that I had ordered pizza Monday night. I asked for sausage and extra cheese and ham. I think I got bacon, ham and extra cheese. I say that I think because I ate almost the whole thing before I realized that it was wrong. Yeah I know.

Well those are two humorous stories from my week… Hope you enjoy them! Ciao!

Friday=Music Day

Most of my readers know that I am a music junkie. Way more cost effective than being a drug or alcohol junkie, just not sure if it is more fun or not. KIDDING People. On my MP3 player, I have playlists from 1980-1990. One for each year. For me, it is interesting to hear the musical progression of that decade.

Because I found an amazing deal on a Zune Mp3 player on Amazon, I upgraded from a 16GB to a 32GB. This is my first Zune and I have to admit that I am rather impressed with it. It is an HD model with a touchscreen. I can listen to HD radio if I so desire. A friend of mine, bought me a dock for my Zune. Since the majority of the docks out there are made for iPods specifically, it is not like I can just go buy one and plug any old MP3 player into it. If it was like that I would have gotten one a long time ago!

Now, to be honest, I never really saw the relevance of a dock for an MP3 player before. Maybe because like the MP3 player itself and my lap top, I had to have one to appreciate it all the more. This is a wonderful thing. It charges the MP3 player and plays the music so I can listen to it without having my earphones in. Which is kind of handy because now I can hear the phone ring. (A whole other story there)

The best part is that the dock was $43 on Amazon. Which is an amazing price! I had looked at them and I put it on my wish list for Amazon and a friend of mine got it for me as a late Christmas present. I am thrilled with it.

Okay, sorry back to music… On these playlists, there are between 76-80 songs from each year. Some I so remember and some, not so much. I totally love that I can listen to a play list of songs from like 1983. Some of the songs make me laugh and wonder why I liked that particular song in the first place. Some, well, I still totally love…

So, as the songs come on from my 1981 playlist, I will list the first ten here:

  1. Let’s Groove- Earth Wind & Fire
  2. The Best Of Times- Styx
  3. Queen of Hearts- Juice Newton
  4. Start Me Up- The Rolling Stones
  5. The Tide is High-Blondie
  6. Jesse’s Girl- Rick Springfield
  7. Love on the Rocks- Neil Diamond
  8. I Don’t Need You- Kenny Rogers
  9. For Your Eyes Only-Sheena Easton
  10. Urgent-Foreigner

Thursday is a Good Day, Maybe

Right now, my back is screaming in pain so I am very sorry if this does not make total sense. Having said that, today has not been any worse or better than the days preceding it, but it seems that I will have to pull out the 2-2-2’s soon. (2-2-2’s are Tylenol with Codeine that you can buy legally in Canada and bring back into the States.) I have been hesitant to do this because I always seem to marathon sleep when I take them. We are not talking like 12 hours more like 18-20 hours. Then the whole next day I feel so groggy and icky. Ugh. So I try really hard to not take them often. But I honestly am about ready to because the pain so totally sucks.

School is going well, I have a 100% in my social psychology class and it is very interesting to me so far. Which is a nice change of pace from the snore fests of Industrial psychology and child and adolescent psychology. Anyway, I am back to enjoying my class and getting a decent grade. Did you know that there is a direct correlation between not liking a class and a crappy grade? I know it, because I proved it, twice.

Easter is coming up and Sandy is taking me to an Easter brunch which I am so looking forward to. I am not sure I will be attending church services because of my back. The standing and sitting gets to me. I am enjoying church though.

Hopefully my back feels better soon… Well, going to run. Ciao!

Wednesday.. Not Sure I Like It All That Much

Well, it is Wednesday. A rainy, chilly Wednesday. Days like this I just want to stay in bed and pull the covers up and say no way I am getting up today. Alas, like a good girl, I am up and sort of functioning this morning. I have to have a chat with my cat because she is driving me crazy at night! I am still hurting because of my back and I know she knows this, so she wants to be with me all the time. Well, normally that is not a bad thing, but she is a bed hog!

I have been looking back on the Gulf oil spill and reading the articles on it. Some are saying that the Gulf is healthier than it was before that big oil spill last year. I only hope that is true because being that I lived on the Gulf side of Florida most of my life, I know how bad it was when all that happened. So many small towns along the Gulf made their living by tourist trade and when the spill happened, it was so very devastating there.

I can not believe that Easter is Sunday!! Holy crap! The beginning of this year has been flying by!! I don’t think I am going to church on Easter though. Especially if my back is still like it has been. I went last Sunday and it was difficult to say the very least.

Well, I think I am going to go now. I am tired and I am going to go watch TV. Ciao!!

Looking Through the Haze of Pain Meds…

My back is still giving me fits. Ugh. Today starts the third week of class, two more to go then on to Statistics. This morning I was woke up by the sounds of sirens. LOUD sirens. Not a great way to wake up. Since I live on the eighth floor of a building I am very sensitive to fire alarms here. We have had four of them since I moved here. Not good. All false, thank God. So when sirens are that close to me, I tend to freak out a little bit. Happily I am reporting that they were not here for my building, but the apartment complex next door. This complex is so close to my building that it is separated with a chain link fence. Upon hearing said sirens, my cat immediately jumped on me in bed. On. My. Back. ::Sigh:: Which caused me to immediately throw her off, not hard mind you but I needed her off my back like now.
She is fine, as I write this she is laying on my legs. She does not like sirens or the fire alarms so she tends to freak out. Usually though she runs under the bed, but not this morning. I am pretty sure I have claw marks on my back from her, but I have not looked in the mirror yet. I am still rather tired, so thinking a nap is in order before class today. Naps are good.
Dinner tonight is at Trina's which I am so totally looking forward to. As I do every week. My apartment faces northeast, so every morning I get to see the sun rise, which in itself is a thing of beauty. I miss the sunsets in Florida over the Gulf a lot. There is nothing like that in the world to me. I adopted another soldier, this will be my tenth I think. I already sent him a letter, waiting to hear back from him. My last one is now home safe and sound! Talked to him on the phone the other day and I am thrilled. He actually called me several times from Afghanistan, which is so damn cool.
I hope that all of this makes some kind of sense because seriously, I took some pain meds for my back and sometimes it does not come out on the page like it is in my head. Go figure. Well, gotta run. Ciao!

Sunday Finds Me…

I went to church this morning and it was a wonderful service. I got a lot out of it and I needed to hear most of it as well, which is always a good thing.

I did something to my back the other day and I have spent three days in horrible pain. Horrible back spasms. I have not had these in so long. Ugh. Just the act of stretching is enough to make me cry. I tried Ibuprofen but it did not work at all. So, I am dealing with it the best I can for now.

School is going well, I am in my social psychology class and I really do like it so far. Next up is statistics and honestly, not really looking forward to that. I will however, do my best and work hard in the class.

Have not been sleeping well again. Sigh. There are some days that I am so tired that I can’t even hold my head up. I hate those days because I always feel like there is something I should be doing on those days and all I want to do is sleep. Well, this is it for now. Ciao!

Indivisible- A Book Review

This book is the very first book I have ever read from author Kristen Heitzmann and I have to say that I loved it. When I began reading this book, it was kind of hard for me to get into it, but it was my fault and not the book. In this book, we meet Jonah Westfall, who is the current police chief in Redford, Colorado. Redford, like all small pretty towns has it share of gossips, secrets, and lies.

Jonah’s character is one that has been bruised and beaten. He is a recovering alcoholic and finds that his sobriety is being tested at every turn. When someone finds two raccoons sewed together, it begins a case of uncertainty for both Jonah and the town.

Tia Manning has secrets of her own and is tied to Jonah because of a past event that she can not let go of no matter how hard she tries and accomplishes. She has been backed into a corner and is trying to live with the fallout of the past and her choices.

All in all, a wonderful book and a well told story. I loved that you don’t really know what exactly is going on until the end of the book and it seems kind of incredible! It is very hard to write this review and not give spoilers to the story, but trust me this is one must read book in my mind.

I received this book for free from WalterBrook Multnomah for the purpose of this review
