Life and Other Stuff Going On

It would seem that this coming weekend is the weekend to finally move stuff around and get my dining room table put together. We have had the table since February and it has sat in the box since then waiting to be put together. So this coming weekend is finally that time. Yay!

Yesterday was horrible severe weather here. The tornado sirens went off and we went down stairs for a bit because it was the prudent thing to do. Nothing happened, thank God, but it was kind of scary. I had such a horrible headache because of the barometric pressure and I still have the headache today. Ugh.

I felt bad because I had gotten 3 voicemails today from some guy needing his eye glasses in the hospital. The woman he thought he was talking to, I feel bad for her because he was an ass. He was rude in the messages and demanding. Had I been the woman he was wanting to talk to, I would not have returned those calls either. I have not gotten another, which means the woman showed up at the hospital or he gave up. Since he does not strike me as the kind to give up, I am thinking she showed up and he asked her why she did not call back and she had no clue as to what he was talking about.

On an unrelated note, I have started playing poker on Facebook and I am starting to like it. I am getting better with every hand. Noting that will become a job, but something to take my mind of stuff. Well, I am going to go. Hope your holiday was safe and good!! Ciao!

What Is Going On With Me

On Monday a very BIG issue with school came up and I am now in the process of appealing it. I was told that it would take about 2-4 weeks for the process and when finished I could either go back to class or I would have to wait a whole year to reapply at that school. Yes, it is that bad…

The issue that is going on is because I had to close out some credits from another school that I know I most likely never see again and to me it was not a big deal only like 12 credits or so. So in the scheme of things not a major deal. But doing so put me in jeopardy that I did know about, but did not think I was anywhere close to. I was wrong.

When this process is over and done with and I know for certain what my fate will be, I will talk about it. For now, I am asking for prayers and good vibes to be sent because they received my appeal and are now processing it to go before the committee. I am pretty sure I have a good chance to go back to class, it’s the waiting that is killing me. I am trying to use my new found time for good things, like reading the books I want and blogging.

Thank you to all of those who have sent me good thoughts already. Please don’t forget to follow my new-old cooking blog. It is in the sidebar. It is the old blog, but with a new name and look. Thank you!! Ciao!

A New Blog

I had to export my cooking blog to my computer and then delete it. So, I created a new one and it can be found here. I did import all the entries from the other one to this one though. I do have to admit that is a really handy thing, especially in this case. So, if you followed Food Glorious Food, I need you to follow Diary of a Food Lover now. Thank you.

Friday Again

You know sometimes days slip right past me. It is Friday again. I am sorta left wondering where my week went. Well, honestly I have been buried in my statistics book reading trying to get a handle on this stuff. Not so easy. One bit of good news is that my school now offers direct deposit for the remaining money from loans and grants. I was thrilled to see that let me tell you. Waiting for a check is not what it is cracked up to be!

I feel like I have not slept in days when the reality of it is that I have slept a lot. Maybe that is it, too much sleep. Although I am not totally sure there is such a thing! I did finally get the book review done. It sucked mainly because I did not read the whole book. I could not bring myself to read it. Ugh.

This is my second week in statistics and I am just honestly hoping for a passing grade. I am working hard on it though, so maybe I will learn some of this stuff yet! Never can tell with me.

Well, I think I am going to go for now. Ciao!

Love Food & Live Well- A Book Review

I have to admit right off the bat that I had a lot of trouble reading this book. I knew when I chose this book to review that it was a book about diet and God, I think that is what drew me to it in the first place. I usually do not read diet books because they get bogged down in their plan and it is not easy to read or very fun.

For the first ten chapters of this book, I was doing well. It was fun Chantel Hobbs tells her own and very personal story about weight loss and I was honestly hooked. I am personally not someone who can diet. I have tried and I just do not possess the will power to do so, but Chantel’s book is not exactly a ‘diet’ book as others are. Her plan is to eat 80 percent clean and the other 20 percent is yours to do with what you want. To me, it sounded good. As I got deeper into this book it really seemed easy enough.

Then I started losing interest in the book. I would pick up other books to read instead of this one, I picked this book up to read again and I could barely get three whole sentences read. I was just too bogged down to read this again. I forced myself to try and finish this book, but I could not. Chantel has a great writing style and my inability to read this book is all mine and none of it hers at all. I do recommend this book if you are serious about changing your life and hate diets. But ONLY if you are SERIOUS, because otherwise you will not read it all.

Love Food Live Well by Chantel Hobbs (Chapter 1)

I received this book for free from Walter Brook Multnomah for the purpose of review in the Blogging for Books program.

Friday Night Musing

I am kind of glad that I have not had the itch to write in the last 24 hours because low and behold, Blogger was down for something like 20 hours of the last 24. Sadly, this is not a random occurrence, it seems to me that Blogger has more problems since they started trying to upgrade everything. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new features, but I would like them more if Blogger worked when I wanted to use them. Oh well, such is life with technology.

Statistics has started and it is okay so far I guess. I have had a low level headache all day long and not really sure why exactly. The Wings are out of the playoffs and while I am thrilled at the kind of hockey they showed us in the end, I do have to admit I am bummed out.

The Tigers are doing well again and that helps some, but I mourn the hockey season because to me, hockey means cooler weather and all. Speaking of the weather, sheesh, can someone please kick Mother Nature and get her into the right season?!? The 30-40 degree temperature changes are the reason I am having all these headaches. Ugh.

Well, I think this is it for now. Ciao!

School & Stuff

Original title, no? I have begun my statistics class and my head hurts already. In the first paragraph in chapter one of this text book they are already telling me that I will have to read this book a lot. Oh but they are sure I will learn statistics. Dear God. Actually, in my first week I have to read chapters 1-3 and understand them. Not that sure it will happen, but I am on reading chapter 3 now. I needed a break because my head was about to explode. I have a second text book on statistics and a Statistics for Dummies book as well. Come hell or high water I will learn this stuff.

Because after this class I will need a psychologist in the worst way. In other school related news, I am still enjoying school despite the paragraph above. It is challenging and I like that. Broadens my horizons I suppose.

Hope everyone had a great mother’s day, even those with pets as their children, cause face it, you still feed and take care of em’ you’re a mom too. I really won’t discuss my day here because well, I am past it and let’s just say it was not great.

The last few days have been difficult for me and I am not sure why exactly. I got to see my daughter’s picture at her 8th grade dance and she looked so beautiful. I might add it to my side bar at a later date. I don’t know, I guess I feel old. She is 14 now, my son will be 16 in Sept. I am kind of wondering what the hell happened?!?!?

Still going to church and I really enjoy that. It really revitalizes me for the week ahead. Which I need. I am still trying to finish that book for review, I think I might have to just give up and review it based on what I have read. I just can’t seem to read it anymore.. Well, better get back to my text book. Ciao!!

Good Intentions and All That Jazz..

They say that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, now I am not exactly sure who ‘they’ are, but I have heard that saying for most of my life. Usually when something does not get done that was supposed to be done and you had every intention on doing it but shit got out of hand and something had to slide and it was that.

Having said all that shit, I will admit that I was hoping to have my newest book review up here by now. It is not. Mainly because I have yet to actually finish reading the book. I am on chapter 10 and I am having a difficult time finishing it. :: Sigh:: I usually don’t have this issue with books, but I am just not into this one. I am going to take a few more days and see if I can finish it off or not. Either way I will post the review here.

This Sunday is Mother’s day, DO NOT FORGET MOM. Unless you are like me. LOL. Well since my mom and I don’t talk anymore, it is cool. Trust me it is for the best too! Well, I need to run. Ciao!!

My Good Luck Lately

I know it has been a while since I last wrote here. I am so amazed by my good fortune lately! First of all I won a copy of the 25th Anniversary commemorative edition of Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer, from my friend Rachel. Then Saturday, I won a free pizza and cutting board from my friend Becky. I am so excited!!

I normally don’t win anything at all, so winning a couple of things within a couple of weeks really came as quite a shock to me.

Today was pretty good, I went to church but got a headache during the service and it has not gone away yet. Sigh. My head hurts. Ugh. Well, this is going to be short. Ciao!
