Untamed- A Book review

Untamed: How the Wild Side of Jesus Frees Us to Live and Love with Abandon is one of those books that if you look at it you would never know what a true gem it really is. When I chose this book, I honestly did not think that I would be able to read the whole thing. I was wrong.

Lisa Harper has such an entertaining writing style, it is very much like sitting down with a good friend and talking to her. I read five whole chapters in one sitting and was amazed at how easily this book is read. I love this book and will be reading it again and again.

Untamed is about how really wild Jesus is. Lisa goes into what certain scriptures mean and how they pertain to the modern world. She also uses easily understood examples and writes so you can really understand what she is saying. I recommend this book for the new Christian and the Christian who has been walking with God for a long time. I think that everyone can get something out of it.

Reading this book made me laugh and think at the same time. You will love her style of writing and understand what she is saying instantly. It really is like having a conversation with your best friend. I am looking forward to her other books as well.

I received this book for free for the purpose of this review from WalterBrook Multnomah as a part of their Blogging for Books program.

This Morning or Rather Finally Not Melting In My Own Clothes

The heat here in Michigan has been horrible for the last few days, finally got a break yesterday. As of right now at 5:41am it is 54 degrees, which I am happy with. The windows are back open and the air conditioning off again. Yes, I know it is June, yes, I know it is supposed to be hot, however, when it gets to be Florida hot here we have an issue. I have felt like I was melting in my own clothes, I suppose that is opposed to melting in someone else’s clothes. I am happy to have this break in the heat.

So because I have had a lot of extra time on my hands lately, I have been watching a lot of Netflix on the Wii. I have found a few TV shows that I did not watch while they were on TV. I watched Saving Grace, which was on TNT. I think I had seen maybe a part of an episode when it was on and I am sorry that I missed that show. It was amazing. I got to watch the whole thing with no commercials. Which I totally LOVE. I started watching Ally McBeal and it is funny but depressing too. I guess I see some of myself in Ally. I am hooked on the music from the show though. Vonda Shepard is amazing and I love her voice. I wish she had put out more music than the music from the show.

I have been reading as well. I wrote yesterday about how I was sleeping a lot. I have always had issues with insomnia and sometimes I wish that I did not. I do and there is not much I can do about it but roll with it. I have read so many articles and tips on how to battle it, but you know what? They don’t really work for me, so I am just rolling with it for now. Tonight going to dinner, which I am looking forward to it. Well, I think I am off to watch either Waking the Dead or finish Pain Killer Jane on Netflix. Ciao!

Today

It has been two weeks since the issue with school has started and I could have another two weeks to wait to hear what is going to happen. I have been really depressed lately and not really feeling like doing anything.

Today is better. I am feeling more like myself again. I have not written because I basically had nothing to say. I had to switch back to my blogspot address from before because I let my domain registration run out. Sigh. Oh well. I will get it back when I have the money to do so.

So, I think I am done here for now. Ciao!

Life and Other Stuff Going On

It would seem that this coming weekend is the weekend to finally move stuff around and get my dining room table put together. We have had the table since February and it has sat in the box since then waiting to be put together. So this coming weekend is finally that time. Yay!

Yesterday was horrible severe weather here. The tornado sirens went off and we went down stairs for a bit because it was the prudent thing to do. Nothing happened, thank God, but it was kind of scary. I had such a horrible headache because of the barometric pressure and I still have the headache today. Ugh.

I felt bad because I had gotten 3 voicemails today from some guy needing his eye glasses in the hospital. The woman he thought he was talking to, I feel bad for her because he was an ass. He was rude in the messages and demanding. Had I been the woman he was wanting to talk to, I would not have returned those calls either. I have not gotten another, which means the woman showed up at the hospital or he gave up. Since he does not strike me as the kind to give up, I am thinking she showed up and he asked her why she did not call back and she had no clue as to what he was talking about.

On an unrelated note, I have started playing poker on Facebook and I am starting to like it. I am getting better with every hand. Noting that will become a job, but something to take my mind of stuff. Well, I am going to go. Hope your holiday was safe and good!! Ciao!

What Is Going On With Me

On Monday a very BIG issue with school came up and I am now in the process of appealing it. I was told that it would take about 2-4 weeks for the process and when finished I could either go back to class or I would have to wait a whole year to reapply at that school. Yes, it is that bad…

The issue that is going on is because I had to close out some credits from another school that I know I most likely never see again and to me it was not a big deal only like 12 credits or so. So in the scheme of things not a major deal. But doing so put me in jeopardy that I did know about, but did not think I was anywhere close to. I was wrong.

When this process is over and done with and I know for certain what my fate will be, I will talk about it. For now, I am asking for prayers and good vibes to be sent because they received my appeal and are now processing it to go before the committee. I am pretty sure I have a good chance to go back to class, it’s the waiting that is killing me. I am trying to use my new found time for good things, like reading the books I want and blogging.

Thank you to all of those who have sent me good thoughts already. Please don’t forget to follow my new-old cooking blog. It is in the sidebar. It is the old blog, but with a new name and look. Thank you!! Ciao!

A New Blog

I had to export my cooking blog to my computer and then delete it. So, I created a new one and it can be found here. I did import all the entries from the other one to this one though. I do have to admit that is a really handy thing, especially in this case. So, if you followed Food Glorious Food, I need you to follow Diary of a Food Lover now. Thank you.

Friday Again

You know sometimes days slip right past me. It is Friday again. I am sorta left wondering where my week went. Well, honestly I have been buried in my statistics book reading trying to get a handle on this stuff. Not so easy. One bit of good news is that my school now offers direct deposit for the remaining money from loans and grants. I was thrilled to see that let me tell you. Waiting for a check is not what it is cracked up to be!

I feel like I have not slept in days when the reality of it is that I have slept a lot. Maybe that is it, too much sleep. Although I am not totally sure there is such a thing! I did finally get the book review done. It sucked mainly because I did not read the whole book. I could not bring myself to read it. Ugh.

This is my second week in statistics and I am just honestly hoping for a passing grade. I am working hard on it though, so maybe I will learn some of this stuff yet! Never can tell with me.

Well, I think I am going to go for now. Ciao!
